Charitable Gambling: Qualified organizations may hold up to four raffles or specific casino/poker nights under strict regulations.

Game Room Permits: Counties (like Tarrant) are authorized to regulate game rooms, including permitting, location restrictions, and operating hours.

Coin-Operated Machines: A general business license and a

annual occupation tax permit are required for amusement machines.

Unlawful Gambling: Betting on card games, dice, or other casino games is generally a violation of the Texas Penal Code, except for specific legalized exceptions.

Tribal Gaming: The Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas operates under its own regulated gaming commission for Class II gaming.

Key Considerations for Operating:

County Authority: Local commissioners hold significant authority to approve, restrict, or shut down gaming operations.

Law Enforcement: The Texas Attorney General and local prosecutors actively enforce anti-gambling statutes.
